I am particularly interested in control methods that can help in the control of schistosomiasis and I have a particular interest in how the environment and the quality of the environment can modulate the evolution of the host-parasite relationship. To analyze these effects I use methods such as analysis of Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy (SEM/TEM), two-dimensional proteomic and transcriptomic analysis by RNA-seq. During my thesis, I worked with the natural compound Euphorbia milii var. hislopii as a molluscicide and observed the effects that inSchistosoma mansoni cercariae exposed to the sublethal concentration of latex-induced development and parasites dynamics of adult parasites under experimental conditions. Furthermore, the composition of the chemical elements present in the latex and control and exposed groups were evaluated by SEM combined with the energy dispersive spectrometry of the detector (SEM-EDS).
Nowadays I am working on the development of a very sensitive method of chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) to study the chromatin profile in a limited number of cells (stem and somatic cells) to Schistosoma mansoni and Echinococcus multilocuraris. This project is on Fugi Consortium.
