DOMAINE D’EXPERTISE/RECHERCHE :
Je suis chercheuse à l’IHPE depuis 2019 et actuellement porteuse du projet HYPERCAN financé par l’ERC Starting Grant de la Commission Européenne. Ce projet a pour objectif de comprendre comment les cancers transmissibles font face à la dégénérescence clonale qui pourrait conduire à leur extinction et comment ils génèrent une diversité génétique suffisante pour garantir leur persistance en l’absence de reproduction sexuée. Mon projet se propose de répondre à ces questions en étudiant les mécanismes évolutifs qui opèrent dans les cancers transmissibles des moules Mytilus.
Mes recherches se situent à l’interface de la pathologie des animaux aquatiques et de la biologie cellulaire évolutive. Pour mon Doctorat, obtenu à l’Université de Bologne (Italie) en 2017, je me suis intéressée à une panzootie dévastatrice pour l’ostréiculture et associée à l’Ostreid herpesvirus. Depuis 2017 ma thématique principale de recherche concerne les cancers transmissibles des bivalves. Ces maladies ont été récemment découvertes (2015) et sont causées par la transmission de cellules cancéreuses d’un individu à un autre. Je me suis tout d’abord intéressée aux caractéristiques phénotypiques de ces cancers puis, fascinée par leur diversité, j’ai entrepris d’étudier leur évolution. Ce modèle représente de plus une formidable opportunité d’étudier les mécanismes évolutifs des cellules cancéreuses dans des conditions naturelles et sur de longues périodes de temps, pouvant donner un nouvel éclairage sur le processus cancéreux.
