Les 5 et 6 décembre 2023, IHPE reçoit à Perpignan une délégation de 6 collègues allemands de l’Université Ludwig-Maximilians de Munich, Allemagne.
Ils viennent dans le cadre d’une nouvelle collaboration scientifique afin de développer des projets d’intérêt commun sur la transmission des trématodoses par les mollusques qui sont en émergence partout en Europe y compris dans la région Occitanie.
Ils se formeront également à l’élevage et l’expérimentation de mollusques, hôtes intermédiaires des douves et de paramphistomes, pour lesquels l’IHPE dispose d’un savoir-faire unique au monde.
Dans le cadre de cette visite, deux séminaires seront dispensés le 5 au matin :
– Overview of Experimental Parasitology at the Ludwig-Maximilians University, par le Professeur Markus MEISSNER
– Fasciola hepatica – from biology to control, par la Professeure Gabriela KNUBBEN
La délégation est composée de:
– Gabriela KNUBBEN : Chair of Internal Medicine and Surgery of Ruminants at the Clinic for Ruminants ; research focus on Fasciola hepatica and Calicophoron daubneyi (clinical research)
– Prof. Markus MEISSNER : Chair for Experimental Parasitology at the faculty ; his research focus is on Toxoplasma (basic research)
– Sandra KIRSCH : Head of the lab at the Ruminant Clinic and in charge of the routine diagnostics (blood work, coproscopy, …) plus the scientific work in the lab
– Marina FISCHER : technician very interested in the work with the snails
– Verena ELBERT : PhD student and working with the snails; her task is to set up a G. truncatula population and make first trials in order to produce Calicophoron metacercariae
– Leah KNOPFLE : PhD student in the Calcicophoron-project; her topic is transcriptomics of the free-living stages of C. daubneyi
