DOMAINE D’EXPERTISE-RECHERCHE :
Je travaille sur des aspects de recherches fondamentales et appliquées sur les Bilharzioses humaines et animales. L’ensemble de mes travaux a pour objectif le contrôle de la transmission de cette parasitose.

Sur des aspects fondamentaux, je m’intéresse, à partir d’outils moléculaires, aux flux des pathogènes dans les différents compartiments du cycle de vie du parasite. J’utilise des outils de génétique ou de génomique des populations sur les stades infectant les hôtes vertébrés (Humain, rongeur ou bétail) ou invertébrés (mollusque vecteur) et des outils d’eDNA dans les milieux aquatiques. Associés à ces flux de pathogènes, je tente d’identifier quels sont les processi écologiques et évolutifs qui structurent les populations de parasites et les mécanismes pouvant favoriser ou limiter leur transmission. Par exemple, je m’intéresse au rôle de la pression médicamenteuse, à l’influence des hôtes réservoirs sur la transmission, aux effets relatifs de la diversité génétique du pathogène et du background génétique du patient sur la morbidité…etc. Enfin, en collaboration avec des collègues de mon unité, je travaille sur des aspects plus fonctionnels afin de décrypter les mécanismes moléculaires sous-jacents aux différents phénotypes identifiés dans les populations naturelles.

Sur des aspects appliqués, en collaboration avec des chimistes je travaille sur la mise au point de nouveaux traitements pour lutter contre les Bilharzioses. Ces dernières années nous essayons de développer des traitements qui ciblent à la fois le plasmodium et le schistosome. En tant que conseiller scientifique au sein de la société ParaDev® je travaille sur le développement de tests rapides (POC) pour dépister les Bilharzioses humaines et animales.

Depuis 2009, je mets mon expertise en génétique des populations au service de la conservation des espèces locales. Grace à des partenariats avec des acteurs et des gestionnaires de la faune sauvage je développe des projets en génétique de la conservation. Je m’intéresse, en particulier, aux galliformes de montagnes d’intérêt patrimonial (Lagopède Alpin, Grand Tetras) ou cynégétique (Perdrix).
